In 2008, Michal used the skills he acquired in real estate development and finance to assist in the construction of a school and clinic in a refugee camp outside of Kabul, Afghanistan. Upon returning back to his home in Denver, he and new friend David founded The Invictus Initiative.
Drew is a native Coloradan with two engineering degrees from Colorado School of Mines. His background in environmental and mechanical engineering has helped him hit some large milestones with his 5+ years of work in the energy sector. For the last three years, Drew has spent a great deal of time traveling around the world in search of building great relationships, helping those in need, and living the ultimate adventure.
Since his first trip with The Invictus Initiative to Kenya, where he proposed to his then fiancé and current wife, Cody has taken the relationships first model literally and is committed to building sustainable partnerships with volunteers, college campuses, and community partners. His background is in electrical engineering and he is also passionate about Tuskers and basketball.
Since Darren’s first Invictus trip to Nicaragua, he has been passionate about leveraging the skills and resources of others into sustainable initiatives that change lives. His professional experience has been in Executive Search with a focus on relationships and connecting people. Darren is passionate about life transformation and helping other realize the potential they have within.
Raised in North Carolina, Adam moved to Salt Lake City to study history at the University of Utah. After volunteering abroad in Kenya, he decided to switch gears and pursue a life worth living. Eventually honing in his skills as a copywriter and marketer, he and his amazing wife now live to serve others.
Ian grew up in Colorado and received his BA in Finance from the University of Northern Colorado and an MBA from the University of Denver. He’s worked in process improvement, automation and data technology, finance, and consulting. When he’s not spending time with his remarkable wife, daughter, and Australian Shepherd, he’s helping the Invictus Initiative with strategy and business development.
Juan was raised in Colorado where he received his BS in Engineering from Colorado School of Mines. His civil engineering focus has allowed him to work on a number of impactful projects in land development. Since his first trip with The Invictus Initiative, Juan has continued to build many lasting life changing relationships with trip alumni and the members of partnering communities in Nicaragua and Brazil. His hobbies include soccer, indoor rock climbing, and video games.
Gladys was born in Kenya before attending college in Michigan as a Zawadi Africa Scholar. She has a BS in Mathematics and Physics from Hillsdale College and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines. She is currently working on a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on Energy Systems Optimization at CSM. Gladys is passionate about improving the lives of people in Africa through innovative energy research and working with international communities to empower young people through education mentoring programs.
